Essential Function & Responsibilities

MechoShade Systems, Inc. has an exceptional opportunity for a reliable, self-motivated UX Design Engineer who is ready to make an immediate impact in a new and expanding Electrical Engineering Department. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the software design team in the development of UX strategy for software based products
  • Lead the creation of UX concepts, themes, story boards, prototypes and proof of concept for presentation and evaluation
  • Conduct research, interviews and/or surveys to develop and support UX strategy
  • Interface tightly with the Communication Graphics team in generating content to support the UX design.
  • Lead the team in testing and analysis of UX concepts
  • Produce and/or supervise production of professional documentation including but not limited to specifications, user manuals and test reports.
  • Define, generate and review project requirements. For example, test specifications, engineering specifications, design review assessments, schedules, budgets, etc.
  • Investigate new or existing technologies and trends that can be effectively applied within the markets served by the business.
  • Analyze field failures and production-related concerns for root-cause analysis in order to improve product performance.
  • Initiate and perform lab testing of competitive products highlighting differences, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Work with management and legal counsel to help protect the company’s intellectual property.
  • Work with management to develop and maintain budgets and schedules for the projects or phases of projects.
  • Support Marketing and Communications in creation of literature supporting our products. 
  • May supervise and/or coordinate the work activities of subordinates.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for less experienced associates within the Engineering Department.

 

 

Education - Experience - Certifications - Licenses - Registration Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interacation (HCI), Design, Digital Media.

Required Competencies - Computer Skills - Other

  • Industrial Design or Interaction Design and 5-10 years relevant technical experience
  • Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript, Graphic/Visual Design
  • Working knowledge of current security technology, https, certificates, etc and its impact on UX design concepts.
  • Experience with iOS and Android app development at a minimum.
  • Creative, out-of-the box thinker and problem-solver who is current on state-of-the-art technology within their field.
  • Self-motivated, professional and positive leader who works well independently as well as in group/team activities.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to work successfully under pressure and time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to train internal resources on design concepts.
